Claire Pettibone Spotlight
Learn About Claire Pettibone Lingerie
Nothing says "romance” and "elegance” more than Claire Pettibone's fine lingerie pieces. Have you ever wondered who is behind the Claire Pettibone name?
Claire Pettibone, creative director and designer, founded her business with husband Guy Toley in 1993 when their "For Body and Soul” line launched in 200+ Nordstrom stores nationwide. A year later they re-branded the collection, under their current name of "Claire Pettibone Luxury Lingerie.”
Since then, the duo has added three additional lines – Bleu Clair (casual wear), Butterflies by Claire Pettibone (fashion lingerie) and Claire Pettibone Bridal Couture (gowns and veils).
What's the secret to Claire's success?
"I truly believe in the beauty and grace of women, and I love to celebrate these qualities through lingerie and the clothing I design,” she said. "Sometimes lingerie can be perceived as overtly ‘sexy,' but my design esthetic has always been about a soft feminine charm, appealing to both men and women.”
Sticking with this month's "romance” theme, we asked Claire to give us three of her top romantic picks from her current collections:
- Athena chemise and thong. In her signature stretch lace of floral scrolls and guipure appliqués, this collection embodies classic romanticism and comes in a soft pallet of pastels and rich colors for fall along with classic bridal ivory and white.
- L'Amour chemise or sleep shirt (coming online soon). This piece feels cashmere-like! Made of paisley stretch lace, and embellished with a ruffle-tulle trim, the chemise is seductive, and the sleep shirt is cozy.
- I Do (coming online soon). I Do is Claire's most romantic Butterflies print. Featuring two lovebirds and a Victorian floral decoupage. The babydoll and thong are a must-have for every bride.
As for what's next in the Claire collections…
In Butterfiles it's all about rich, vibrant colors. "This collection is young, hip, and fun to wear,” says Claire.
In Luxury Lingerie, she will continue on trend with the vintage-inspired, feminine look.
"I combine feminine laces and delicate trimmings for a truly romantic luxury,” she says. "With so many sheer and cut-away looks happening in fashion, lingerie is such an important layering piece. What could be prettier than a little lace peeking out of a sweater or subtly showing through a tee or blouse?”
Sounds spectacular and we can't wait to see and try the new collections ourselves!
