Who came up with the name shelf bra? Was it by chance a man who did not understand that a Shelf Bra, as due termed should hold up your breasts? Sounds logical enough, like a shelf holds a vase, pretty trinket or picture frame, NOT!
First in your younger years, you are perky and firm, then you are ready to be in “Mommy Mode”, then your breasts “Relax”.
Shelf Bras are wonderful, if you are augmented, or have perky, firm breasts. Shelf Bras tend to dissapoint the ladies who purchase them, thinking they are going to be sexy, but once placed under your breasts, dissapear like MAGIC!
Yes the Breast Fairy comes down and annoints the ladies that are perky, and firm with a note of approval when trying on a shelf bra…..but if you are “relaxed” as we call it, post kids, you will want to find a shelf bra that has a bit of boning for support. Many women are very dissapointed thinking they are going to feel so sexy in a shelf bra, thong and garter set, and come to realize that shelf bras do not support much of anything. In fact you tend to lose the lacey, pretty bra under your breasts and it can leave you feeling discouraged.
Never fear, there are certain shelf bras that do support a bit, watch for enough material in the front of the bra, and a thicker side to the bra when purchasing. There are a few items that I personally would recommend should you decide to purchase a shelf bra:
